PhD, Prof. Roland E. Poms

Professor of Food Science and Nutrition at IUBH (Germany).

He holds MSc and PhD degrees in Food Technology and Biotechnology from BOKU, the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, where he is honorary Professor and affiliated staff in "Food Safety Analytics".  

Since 2016 he has had several short term contracts as consultant at FAO of the United Nations, Rome, Italy. Since its foundation in 2011 until recently he was Secretary General/CEO of MoniQA (Monitoring and Quality Assurance in the Total Food Supply Chain), an international non-profit association based in Austria.   His general expertise is development, validation, and application of analytical methods for food safety and quality assessment.  

He coordinated several international collaborative projects and was leading partner in various EU-funded research projects.

Dr. Poms is Co-Founder of the peer-reviewed international journal QAS – Quality Assurance and Safety of Crops&Foods, he is author and co-author of some 55 peer-reviewed scientific papers, various book chapters, and some 300 abstracts.  He is involved in working groups of various international organizations like CEN, ISO, IAM, Codex Alimentarius, AOAC, AACC Int’l.
