Dr. Seema holds a post graduate degree in food biotechnology and doctoral degree from IIT Delhi in the area of Food supply chain and Policy connotation. She has around 20 years of specific experience in the areas of SPS matters, food safety standards, conformity assessment, food regulations and training, inspection and certification at national and international level. Currently, she is working as senior project manager at the Quality and Safety Unit, DEQS Department, based out at the AETS in New Delhi. She has worked with government authorities in India like the Export Inspection Council (EIC), Ministry of Commerce & Industry and associated with FSSAI (Food Safety & Standards Authority of India).
She has worked on projects on trade matters, SPS, policy advocacy and dialogues, equivalence and mutual recognitions (MoU development and implementation with China on feed, Bhutan on agricultural products, USFDA on capacity building, World bank on institutionalising ITCFSAN centre in Mumbai) capacity building with EU, USFDA, AQIS, AQSIQ and CFIA. Some of her recent project includes expert on ISO standards implementation on Livestock health and value chain project in GMS countries, technical coordinator for study on impact of AMR on poultry value chain in India and coordination of BTSF mission on training on FMD, feed regulation with FSSAI.
She has driven GMP, HACCP and other standards implementation initiatives as a consultant in various sectors like dairy, catering, packaging and GAP in peanut, rice processors. She has authored eight research papers and one course-book on food safety for IGNOU in addition to her significant contribution to white papers on endocrine disruptors regulations, codex standard on Food hygiene as part of working group. She has worked for certification body like DNV and BSI and other sectors such meat export industry and IT industry at managerial role in Quality management systems.
She is empanelled as technical expert in WHO for supporting countries in South Asia. She is associated with National Accreditation Bodies (NABCB) as expert and assessor. An alumni of US department of State International Visitor leadership program on food safety systems. She is an expert committee of IGNOU program on PGDFSQM and counsellor with IGNOU and also participating in shadow codex committee on food hygiene.
